Zanesville, known for its Y-Bridge and many fine potteries, had another distinction in the mid 1960s. Ralph Ditter who for many years owned a barbershop on Main Street claimed to have taken pictures of a UFO in his backyard on November 13, 1966.

As a few of our male classmates know, Ditter's barbershop was the place to go if you wanted the best buzz cut in town. And during the late 1960s even a smaller few may recall seeing the two UFO photos hanging in Ralph's barbershop.

Ralph's fame spread. He was featured in various publications on ufology, the Mechanics Illustrated magazine and other notable publications.

Unfortunately for Ralph, his fame was short lived. The photos were proven to be a hoax as indicated in the following report.
